In 1991, Chris Bird from Nuneaton set up B&C Engineering, renting a small unit on Fife Street to start his business. After 18 months as a sole trader, growing demand prompted a move to a larger unit within the same complex, where he hired his first employee.
As the business continued to thrive, it soon outgrew these premises, leading to a relocation to a 3,000 sq. ft. property on King Edward Road, Nuneaton. To meet increasing customer demands, significant investments were made in state-of-the-art machinery, and the business transitioned into a limited company under the name Birds Precision engineering ltd,
Growth didn’t stop there. To accommodate expanding operations, the company moved to its current 6,500 sq. ft. facility on Tenlons Road, Nuneaton.
In 2012, Chris’s son, Tom Bird joined the business, bringing new energy and perspective to the team. Over the next 12 years, Tom honed his skills, spending most of his time on the shop floor operating machinery and learning the ropes of the business. In more recent times, the company has invested heavily in cutting-edge CNC machinery, with Doosan machine tools being the favoured brand. These latest additions enable us to deliver the highest quality components to our customers, helping us meet and exceed the high standards they expect. In October 2023, Tom took over the running of the business, allowing Chris to take a step back while remaining involved in its operations.
